A low-maintenance garden with the focus on a mix of grasses: Pennisetum, Miscanthus, Hakonecloa, Imperata, and sedges: Carex. Bulbs in the summer richen the palette and make New England spring bearable, hiding the stumps of just-cut grass clumps.
