At a sprawling cape house situated on a 1 acre property with sweeping views of Town Cove over Nauset Marsh, SegoDesign worked on an enhanced master plan for the entire site. The owners had lived there for seven years and wanted more outdoor living space while creating a flow around the property. Habitat for bees and establishment of an overgrown country feel to match the European-influenced interiors were other goals. SegoDesign custom-designed vine stays and laser-cut window-well covers with Garden Iron in CT. We brought in dimensional monolithic bluestone for the patio, walkways, and steps to make the new patio feel like it was always there. The grill and gooseneck outdoor lamp were specified and the grill notched into existing stone walls. A rich seed mix and wide shrub palette was added for season-spanning bee nectaries, and many herbal plants were supplemented in between the stone walkways. A new brick entry patio in a herringbone design with a raised aspect was sensitive to the existing rose garden and an ancient espaliered apple tree. Vines soften and create green scrim on the bedroom wing of the house amid the detailed hardscape.
